Bunnies everywhere

I saw a pattern for a super cute bunny quilt.  It was applique and I've never done applique, so I decided to try it out since they were all relatively big pieces.  Now, I'm not one for a lot of hand-sewing.  I don't even hand-sew my bindings.  So I machine-stitched around the appliqued pieces.  I think they turned out so cute.  The same friend who bought a St. Patty's Day table runner asked me to do an Easter one for her as well, so I did bunnies and Easter eggs on it.  I made two bunny quilts, one for me and one for my Mom.  On mine and the table runner, the quilting pattern was meandering with some bunnies thrown in randomly.  My mom's is swirls with bunnies thrown in.  I'm not quite done with hers yet, but should be sometime tomorrow.

St. Patricks Day!

My Mom bought me a kit to do an Irish Chain table runner.  It came with St. Patrick's Day fabric, so its very appropriate for March.  A friend saw it and paid me to do one for her too.  (Sorry the pictures aren't great.)

Mom Gallahan's quilt

Mom Gallahan's quilt turned out to be one of my favorites.  I found these great yellow and gray coordinating fabrics and then decided that I really needed something else to pop on this quilt, and the pink turned out awesome.  Each strip is a "braided" pattern, which sounds really hard but isn't bad to do.  This was free-motion quilted with a meadering leaf pattern.  Mom Gallahan was very excited about this present, she told me that she'd never had a homemade quilt of her own before.

Margie's quilt

For Margie, another purple quilt.  (Obviously, purple is a favorite color amongst this family.)  This quilt has 9 Courthouse Steps blocks.  It was then free-motion quilted with a meandering star pattern.

Marcey's quilt

For Marcey, I did a Split Rail pattern, I intended to put the dark color on one end to create the typical steps and forgot when I sewed the strips together.  That's okay, it still looked awesome.  I free-motion quilted the swirls down each row of this quilt.

Teresa's quilt

Teresa told me her favorite color was teal/aqua, so I found these great coordinating fabrics for her quilt.  The pattern is called Tortilla Flats, which is a variation of a 9-patch.  The quilting on this one took me the longest, partly because I was getting used to the new sewing machine.  I free-motion quilted in flowers and leaves.  Each block had a free-hand flower and in between each block was a stem with leaves on it.

Tiffany's quilt

For Christmas 2012, I decided to make quilts for a few people in Ken's family.  The first one I did was for his niece, Tiffany.  I finished the quilt and was sewing the binding when I broke my sewing machine.  OH NO, I still had 4 more quilts to sew before Christmas.  My parents came to the rescue and offered to change what they were planning on giving me for Christmas and buy me a new sewing machine.  HOORAY!  So I was able to finish this quilt and sew the other four just in time for Christmas.  This quilt is a basic 9-patch done in purples and golds.  The quilting is very simple and just outlines each square about a quarter inch inside the seams.
